It has cost about 1500 crores to make it. After this, he will start the country’s first cable-sight rail bridge Fit Rail Bridge. Around 12 noon, PM Modi will flag two Vande Bharat trains from Katra to Srinagar.
43 thousand 780 crore cost in USBRL project
According to the Railway Ministry, the total length of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project is 272 km and its cost is around ₹ 43,780 crore. This includes 36 tunnels and 943 bridges. This project is strategically important because it will not only facilitate the local people, but will also strengthen connectivity in terms of security of the country. The USBRL project was started in 1997, but due to geographical and geographical difficulties it continued to get stuck several times.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that Prime Minister Modi has played an important role in the completion of 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. He said, “From 2004 to 2014 only tracks were laid in flat parts, but did not work in difficult hilly areas. This impossible dream has become a reality today under PM Modi’s leadership.”
The Qazigund-Baramulla section started in 2009 under the USBRL project. In the year 2013, 18 km Banihal-Kazigund section started. In the year 2014, 25 km Udhampur-Katra, in the year 2023, Sangaldan started from Banihal and now the journey of rail between Sangaldan to Katra is going to start.
World’s highest rail bridge and India’s first cable stay railway bridge
According to the Railway Minister, the 1.3 km long railway bridge on the Chenab River is 359 meters high, which is 35 meters high than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This bridge can also remain stable in 260 kmph air and seismic zone-v. Its construction uses 30,000 tonnes of steel and half a football ground as wide foundation.
At the same time, the Fort Bridge is the first railway bridge in the country in which cable-sight technology has been used. Usually this technique is used on the highway, but it is specially designed to withstand a train load up to 4,000 tonnes.
