The wife of former Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Vijay Raghavendra Singh tried to commit suicide in the tehsil office of Katni district. Ranjita Singh put kerosene on herself, but the people around thwarted the attempt to commit self -immolation. He alleged that his complaint in the land dispute was ignored.
The woman said that she had bought land from a person named Jahan Singh in Bilayat Kala village two years ago, but there is encroachment on her and for the last six months, there was no benefit of circling the Tehsil office.
Ranjita Singh alleged negligence on behalf of Naib Tehsildar and said that it is causing a lot of mental stress. Ranjita Singh, a resident of Barwara, bought 1176 sq ft of land from Jahan Singh on 15 September 2021.
Officials said that the land is currently occupied by request Tiwari, a resident of Bilayat Kala village. Speaking on this matter, Naib Tehsildar Anuradha Singh of Barwara said that Ranjita Singh’s case is registered in the revenue department. He said that the other side has been occupied by land since 1995, while the name of the applicant has been registered in 2021.
Anuradha Singh said that the matter is pending due to dispute and he rejected the allegations of Ranjita Singh’s negligence. Naib Tehsildar said that legal proceedings are being done by the court in a proper manner.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Pradeep Mishra alleged that Ranjita Singh interrupted the judicial proceedings, after which a police complaint was lodged.
Sub-divisional officer of Barwara, Police (SDOP) Umrao Singh confirmed the information from the station in-charge that the former MLA’s wife attempted suicide in the tehsil office.
The SDOP said that the request Tiwari is occupying their land. A case will be registered for not removing illegal possession as soon as the written order is issued by the Tehsildar. Police will be deployed to evict the encroachers.
