Brydon Carse: Plan to get thumb cut, trouble on IND tour, career was in danger

After taking 27 wickets in only five Tests, one of England’s emerging fast bowlers has been included in the team for the first Test against India in Leeds from June 20.

The 29 -year -old fast bowler had a deep infected cut while bowling on the left toe. Earlier this year, this problem was revealed during England’s visit to India, due to which he had to be out of the Champions Trophy and stayed away from the ground for three months.

‘BBC’ quoted cars as saying, ‘At one time I was going to bed thinking that I think I can actually do this – I think I can get rid of my toe, but then medical workers said that you need it for balance, so this idea was rejected immediately.’

He said, ‘I now try not to mention my toe in the dressing room because people are bored with it. It has become a kind of joke in the dressing room, my thumb.
