Shinde’s chartered plane was given a lift to Kidney patient Sheetal Borde and her husband to Mumbai.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde went to attend the palanquin journey of Sant Muktai in Muktainagar, Jalgaon on Friday. When he returned, his pilot refused to fly the plane at Jalgaon Airport. The Pilot said that his duty time is over, and it would take him some time to get new permission.
Shinde was accompanied by ministers Girish Mahajan, Gulabrao Patil and some other administrative officers, although the officials took about an hour to convince the pilot. Minister Girish Mahajan spoke to the airline company and explained the situation to the pilot in his own way. After this he was ready.
Not only this, Shinde came forward to help the patient going to Mumbai to get a kidney transplant and made him sit on his chartered plane. Sheetal was going to Mumbai for a female surgery named Borde.

When the Borde told the workers present at the airport, they immediately approached Minister of State Girish Mahajan. Mahajan sought help from Shinde. Without any hesitation, Shinde seated both the woman and her husband in her chartered aircraft for Mumbai. During the journey, he interacted with the woman and inquired about her treatment.
After landing in Mumbai, Shinde ensured that an ambulance was immediately arranged and his entry into the hospital was maintained personally.
Why did pilot refer to ending duty time
- No pilot can fly more than 8-9 hours a day. This is the time when the pilot reports and remains on duty till the next rest. Pilot also in Jalgaon The duty time was over.
- Although duty time can usually range from 8 to 13 hours, but depends on many things, these include day/night time, flight number, flight length and factories such as crew members.
- After duty, the pilot is given a rest of 12 to 14 hours of rest. This time depends on how long the previous duty was and how many flights he flew. If the pilot has taken a long flight or has a night duty, the rest can be even longer.
- If the pilot wants to fly another after one flight, it cannot be seated back to the flight deck until it completes the prescribed rest time. For this, the airline has to call an alternative pilot or send an extra relief crew in the flight.
- This rule can be changed due to VVIP movement on special instructions from Air Force/Government or DGCA.
