Eci on rahul gandhi allegations: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has made a big allegation of rigging in the 2024 Maharashtra elections. The Congress leader said that there was a huge disturbance in this election. The Election Commission has now reacted strongly to these allegations of Rahul Gandhi.
The Election Commission said that Rahul Gandhi’s allegations are wrong and without evidence and they are ignoring the facts. The Commission said that on 24 December 2024, the Congress was given all the information with full reply, which is still present on the Election Commission website. The Commission also said that repeatedly repeating the same allegations and ignoring the correct information is an insult to democracy and law.
ECI sources denied Rahul Gandhi’s allegations
On the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi, Election Commission sources said, “The Congress leader has actually criticized the booth level agents appointed by his own party in Maharashtra, voting and counting agents appointed by his own Congress candidates.”
According to ECI sources, 10.5 lakh booth level officers, 50 lakh polling officers and 1 lakh counting supervisors appointed by the Commission across the country are also very angry with Rahul Gandhi about his honesty and hard work.
Election Commission asked these questions to Rahul Gandhi
The Election Commission questioned, “According to the instructions of the ECI, the CCTV footage of polling stations in any election petition can always be investigated by the High Court. This is done by the Election Commission to protect the purity of the election as well as to protect the privacy of voters. Why does Rahul Gandhi want to encroach the confidentiality of the voters through themselves or through his agents, which the security commissions want to encroach, what is the election commission as per the election commission? Did not trust the High Courts either?
ECI sources said, “Rahul Gandhi is now trying to defend the Congress himself. Earlier Rahul Gandhi himself used to write on media and Twitter, but in view of the criticism being done by citizens across the country, the Congress has started defending them through its Twitter handle and some other prominent Congress leaders.”
The statement further said, “It is very strange that even after 24 hours has passed, Rahul Gandhi has neither written any letter to the Election Commission nor sought any time to meet the Election Commission. According to the process, it is public knowledge and everyone knows that any constitutional body including the Election Commission will formally answer when Rahul Gandhi will write the letter.
ECI sources said, “It is very interesting that Rahul Gandhi says on one hand that the issues being raised by him are very serious, but when it comes to writing to the Election Commission in Black and White, they back down. On the other hand, they back down. Like all other national parties, when the Congress was invited to meet the Commission on 15 May 2025, the Congress asked for some time and some time.
Election Commission sources said, “That is, it is clear that the Central Election Commission is constantly referring to the fact that Rahul Gandhi is writing on social media, why not talk or meet the Election Commission directly about them because the Election Commission is constantly meeting representatives of all political parties during the last few months and if he has any kind of fears, he is removing them.
ECI sources further said, “The Congress delegation has not yet come to meet the Election Commission. The matter has been made by Rahul Gandhi on the allegations made in the Maharashtra elections, even before this, it has been clearly released by the Election Commission to release all the data related to the election officially and it has been made clear that the allegations are completely baseless and no disturbances were made in Maharashtra elections.”
What were the allegations of Rahul Gandhi?
Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Maharashtra Assembly Elections were disturbed in 2024. He says that through a five-phase scheme, the BJP turned the election in its favor and the percentage of voting was also exaggerated. He also suspected the Election Commission of collusion with the BJP.
Rahul Gandhi shared a link to his article on social media platform x, in which he told how there was a mess in the election. He also said that the same can happen in the upcoming elections of Bihar. In these elections, BJP -led Mahayuti alliance got 235 seats and BJP became the largest party with 132 seats. This election proved to be a major victory for the party.
