New DelhiLast month, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) honored India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma, former Indian captain Ajit Wadekar and former BCCI President Sharad Pawar. The stand has been named at the prestigious Wankhede Stadium in the city in honor of these three veterans that emerged from Mumbai cricket. The stadium also has a stand in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar. However, now another personality from MCA has urged to honor former Indian cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri.
Shishir further wrote, “As a person who deeply respects its role in preserving the legacy of administration and sports, I urge MCA to re -examine this neglect.
Shastri scored around 7,000 runs in both formats and took 280 wickets. His most notable achievement on the cricket field was to win the title of Player of the Series in 1985 Banson and Hedes World Championship of Cricket.
