Heavy protests in manipur: The situation remained tense on Sunday (June 8), a day after the violent protest over the arrest of Armbai Tengol, the leader of the Meeti organization in Manipur and the administration implemented the prohibition in five districts of the Imphal Valley and suspended internet services. Police gave this information.

Precaution Prohibition has been implemented in Imphal West, Imphal Eastern, Thobal, Bishnupur and Kakching districts and internet and mobile data services including weisat and VPN facilities have been suspended in these valley areas.

Protesters burnt tires and furniture demanding the release of Meeti leader

The protesters, demanding the release of the leader, burnt tires and old furniture in the middle of the road in Quakethel and Uripok. There was a clash between protesters and security forces on Saturday (June 7) at different places in the capital of Manipur. Angry mob set a bus on fire in Khurai Lamlong in Imphal Eastern district.

The protesters also fired bullets and tried to set fire by spraying petrol

At the same time, the voices of many bullets were heard in Quakethel, but it was not known who fired the bullets. After the arrest of the leader, the protesters also surrounded the main gate of Imphal Airport in Tulihal. They took to the streets near the airport and blocked the route to stop any possible effort to take the arrested leader out of the state. Meanwhile, members of Arambai Tengol put petrol against the arrest by symbolizing the arrest.

After the arrest of the Meeti leader, a video on social media platforms is becoming fiercely viral. In this video, some are seen in black clothes, who are seen putting petrol on them and threatening to commit self -immolation. However, this video has not been confirmed yet.

Tear gas shells left on protesters in security forces

Security forces used tear gas shells to disperse the protesters in front of Kangla Gate, about 200 meters from Raj Bhavan here. Security has been increased on the roads leading to Raj Bhavan and additional deployment of central forces personnel has been deployed.

In view of protests, the District Magistrate of Imphal West issued orders

In view of the protests in the turbulent northeastern state, an order issued by the District Magistrate of Imphal West said, “Imphal West Superintendent of Police has reported serious violations of peace in the area, deteriorating public peace, riots or quarrels and illegal activities of anti -social elements to cause serious threats to human life and properties due to illegal activities of anti -social elements.”

The district administration has banned five or more people gathering under sub -section two of Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS) and carrying sticks, stone, firearms or sharp weapons.

Police ban people from leaving home

Police said that similar precautionary measures have been taken in Thobal and Kakching districts. In Imphal Eastern and Bishnupur districts, people have been banned from getting out of their homes from 10 pm on Saturday (June 7) under sub -section one of Section 163 of BNSS.

A police official said, “Violent protests started after the arrest of a leader of Arambai Tengol. Three people were injured in a clash between protesters and policemen. All precautionary steps are being taken. ”At the same time, internet services have also been suspended in five districts of the valley for five days from 12 noon on Saturday (June 7).

Anti-social elements can use social media to provoke people- Ashok Kumar

The order issued by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Griha) N Ashok Kumar said, “Especially, in view of the current situation of law and order in Imphal Eastern, Imphal West, Thobal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts, it is feared that some anti-social elements may use social media for the broadcast of images, indecent language and hatred video messages. This can have a serious impact on the law and order situation in the state. ”

The order said that this order was passed unilaterally in view of the accidental situation and legal action would be taken against every person found guilty of violation of the above order.
