The Dindoshi Sessions Court of Mumbai has sentenced a 42 -year -old man to 10 years convicted of rape and fraud. The accused not only sexually abused him by pretending to marry a nurse, but also withdrawn 1.5 lakh rupees from his bank account. This case is of the year 2016, but now the victim has got justice. The accused has been identified as Jayendra Dattatreya Moranjan, but he used to cheat women with many names like Chetak Sudhir Bhavsar, Sachin Egypt and Rahul Ashutosh Patil.
According to the information, Jayendra was unemployed, but sometimes a private company employee, and sometimes a businessman, he used to implicate naive women. There is also a allegation against him that he withdraws money from his account without the consent of the woman and sexually abused her in the name of marriage. The victim was working as a nurse. She was married earlier, but was divorced in 2014. She wanted to marry again under pressure from family members. Therefore, a profile was created on matrimonial sites.
Meanwhile, on 18 June 2016, a person named Rahul Patil emailed him. He described himself as working in a company. After email, he called the victim the next day and asked to get the pretext of discussing the marriage proposal. The victim called her to her house. During the meeting, both showed interest in each other. The accused also claimed that he had already taken an oath to go to Shirdi with fiancé and seek the blessings of Sai Baba. He asked the woman if she would go to Shirdi with her.
The victim woman also wanted to take the blessings of Sai Baba before marriage, so she agreed to go to Shirdi. Both left for Shirdi the same evening. A program was also made to go to the woman’s sisters’ house in Nashik. On reaching Shirdi, both of them stayed in a hotel. There the accused started forcefully with the woman. She kept on suffering quietly, because she felt that she was going to get married. After this, the accused told the woman’s sisters that her sister lives in America. It is going to come to Mumbai on 28 July. Therefore, preparations for marriage will have to be done early.
After returning from Shirdi, on 23 June 2016, the two met again and went to watch the film. During the interval, the woman went to the washroom and left her purse to the accused. The next day the woman came to know that her ATM card was missing, on which the PIN number was also written. When the woman asked the accused, she told that she needed money, so she took the card. The accused assured that preparations for marriage are going on. On July 2, the accused called the woman to Nashik and started forcefully there.
After this he claimed that his grandmother was bitten by a snake in Mahabaleshwar. He left the woman’s house and went away. Later, he called the woman’s brother -in -law and said that he is sending a car, in which all the people should come into the engagement on July 5, but nothing happened. Meanwhile, the accused withdrawn 1.5 lakh rupees from the woman’s account. When the woman talked about this, the accused abused her and said that she is a prostitute. He also said that he has done this with many women like him.
The accused blocked the numbers of the woman and her relatives and also threatened to kill her. The woman, hurt by this incident, lodged a complaint at Vile Parle Police Station on 17 July 2016. The accused was soon arrested. Medical examination revealed that the woman is pregnant. He decided to have an abortion. Investigation revealed that the accused has made at least 4 women their victims in a similar way. Another woman’s ATM card was also recovered from her. He contacted women with fake identity.
Additional Sessions Judge S.J. Ansari said that it is clear from the evidence present in the record that the accused had no intention of marrying the woman. He continued to make false promises. However, the court also said that the accused has been in jail since 2016 and has no pre -criminal record. Therefore, he can get a chance to improve. The court in the end sentenced the accused to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and has given justice to the woman, considering the damage done to the woman. Taking lessons from this case, women need to be cautious.
