King Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam left their suitcases on a homestay in Sohra (Cherrapunji), and the mangalsutra and ring found in it proved to be the most important clue in solving this honeymoon murder case. This information was given by the Director General of Police of Meghalaya (DGP) L.K. Nongrang gave on Wednesday.
Sonam and Raja were married on May 11 in Indore and they arrived for Meghalaya Honeymoon on May 20 via Guwahati, Assam. On May 23, both East disappeared a few hours after a checkout from a homestay in Nongriyat village in Sohra in Khasi Khasi Hills district.

The search for Sonam continued and finally she appeared in front of the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, about 1,200 km, on the morning of 9 June. Along with him, her lover Raj Kushwaha and three betel nut killers were also arrested, who were given money to kill the king.
DGP Nongrang said, ‘Sonam’s mangalsutra and ring were found in the suitcase that the couple left in a homestay of Sohra. It was a big clue for a married woman to leave her jewelery and we started taking her in suspicion.
Sutcase left on homestay
Another police officer associated with the investigation said that on May 22, the couple had reached this homestay without any booking. He did not find a room there, so he left his suitcase there, because it was difficult to climb more than 3,000 stairs in Nongriyat village. He was going to see ‘Double Decker Root Bridge’.
The couple’s suitcase lay there and they stayed in a homestay in Nongriyat village. On the morning of May 23, he left from there and returned to Sohra, picked up his scooter and left for Vesudong Falls. At the same time, the three betel nut killers killed the king in front of Sonam.
Tour guide suspected seeing three Hindi speakers
According to the news agency PTI, a tour guide saw the couple climbing towards Sohra with three Hindi speakers. The police officer said, ‘The accused have confessed their crime. We have all the evidence that there is no scope for denial. A court of Shillong has sent Sonam, her lover Raj and the three betel nut killers to police custody for eight days.
