Government sources told Aaj Tak that India’s military relations with Israel and Iran are inspired by its national interests including defense, energy security and regional stability.
Since the conflict between Israel and Iran continues, India should carefully pursue their relations with the two countries, giving priority to diplomacy and strategic autonomy. By doing this, India can protect its interests by promoting peace and stability in the region.

Partnership between Israel-India increased
India’s defense partnership with Israel has increased considerably in the last few years, with Israel as one of India’s top defense supply countries. Both countries have collaborated on various security issues including anti-terrorism and defense technology. India has bought a missile defense system like Israeli drone, radar system and Barak-8. Joint military exercises of the two countries have increased inter-operation and strengthened their strategic partnership.
India’s relationship with Iran is based on historical and cultural relations, focusing on energy security and regional contact. India has invested at the Chabahar port in Iran, which provides an alternative route for trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia, bypassing Pakistan. While military cooperation between India and Iran is limited, they have supported naval exercises and maritime security including anti -dacoity operations.
Challenge for India’s foreign policy
The conflict between Israel and Iran offers important challenges for India’s foreign policy. India has appealed for restraint and diplomacy, appealing to both sides to avoid stress -enhancing steps. India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has spoken to his Israeli and Iranian counterparts, made them aware of international concerns and appealed to return to diplomacy soon.
