New Delhi. South Africa won the ICC Trophy, while the Player of the Match, Aiden Markram celebrated it by drinking beer on the field itself. Markram corrected or wrong by drinking beer in front of thousands. Can any action be taken against them for this? All this is a matter of debate, but history is witness that there have been dozens of occasions in cricket when the players came on the field after drinking alcohol and showed the best game. Herschel Gibbs, who scored 175 runs in the biggest runchase in ODIs, also drunk this historic innings.

1. Drink alcohol overnight, hit 175 runs in the morning

South Africa has a world record of chase of 435 runs in Johannesburg against Australia. African opener Herschel Gibbs then scored 175 runs off 111 balls. Later in his autobiography ‘Two the Point’, Gibbs revealed that he was drinking alcohol overnight before this match. Drug addicts had not landed till morning. Still he landed on the ground and played a historic innings.

West Indies veteran Vivian Richards has also scored a drunken century. He had told in an interview, before a county match, at night I drank too much alcohol with Ian Botham. The reason for all this is considered to be alcohol addiction. Vinod Kambli once said in an interview that once he had scored a century in the morning in the Ranji Trophy match in the morning after drinking 10 pegs in the night.
