Mail breast cancer risk factor
Lifestyle – Most men’s poor lifestyle (not doing physical activity, sitting in one place for a long time) promotes obesity, and obesity is the biggest risk factor of breast cancer.
Reason for biological and genetic – If female members in the family have breast or ovarian cancer, then the risk of its existence in men also increases. It is behind a gene mutation called BRCA1 and BRCA2, which increase the chances of cancer. This situation runs from generation to generation. Among men who have BRCA1 and BRCA2 test positive are the highest risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Consumption of alcohol and tobacco – Those who drink alcohol five or more times in a consecutive week have disturbances in hormonal balance, which increases the risk of breast cancer. Tobacco and smoking also increase the risk.
How is breast cancer treatment done in men?
Surgery- Breast cancer is also treated in men in the same way as it is done in women. In the initial stage, it is treated through operation. During this time the nipple and the knot built around it are removed. During this time, the tissue of the breast is also removed. Also, the lymph nodes and chest muscles are also removed in the underarm. After this, the patient is given chemotherapy, radiation and hormonal therapy.
Radiation- To cure breast cancer, the help of radiation is taken in which cancer cells are killed through X-rays. Radiation helps in removing small tumor cells near your chest wall or skin during surgery. Radiation eliminates leftover cancer cells so that the cancer does not grow again.
Chemotherapy- Drugs are used to kill cancer cells in your body in chemotherapy. For local tumors (which could not spread), you may be given chemo before surgery to shrink the tumor. Or you may need radiation and chemo after surgery to reduce the chances of the tumor growing again or coming back in the body elsewhere.
Hormone therapy– Doctors use hormone therapy to reduce the level of estrogen or prevent its effect. If cancer cells resort to hormones like estrogen to grow, then help is taken from hormone therapy.
Can more protein intake also increase the risk of breast cancer?
Dr. Jehan Dhahar said that protein diet or plant-based protein has nothing to do with breast cancer, but if you consume 60 to 70 grams of soy daily, then it can help in increasing cancer because eating it daily provides the level of estrogen in the body.
Can steroid and protein powder increase the risk of breast cancer?
Dr. Jehan Dhahar said that those who consume steroids and protein powder to build a body in the gym are more in the risk of prostate cancer. It has no effect on breast cancer.
What are the things to stay away from breast cancer?
