According to Forbes, the final decision will be taken in the ICC’s annual general meeting to be held in Singapore next month. At the moment, it seems that if the tournament happens, UAE will host it. It has surpassed Sri Lanka which hosted the previous edition in 2023 and this time too was a strong contender.

India and Pakistan had already signed an agreement with the 2025 Champions Trophy, in which all their multi -nation tournaments will be held on the neutral venue. After the Pahalgam terror attack, there was more doubt on the Asia Cup in which 26 innocent people died in Kashmir. Due to India’s anti -retaliation, there was a situation of war between India and Pakistan.

Many reports in India have claimed that the tournament will not move forward, but the stakeholders remain careful. Forbes quoted an official close to the discussions as saying, “Things are calm amidst stress and there is still a lot to happen but still time.”

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has also denied rumors of India’s ‘out of the tournament’. Saikia quoted Sportstar as saying, “Such reports are completely baseless as BCCI has not taken any discussion or step about the ACC events.

The UAE has been a backup neutral venue in several emergency situations, including the Champions Trophy matches and some IPL editions. If the cup is done then it will be played in T20 format as preparations for the next year’s T20 World Cup.
