In view of the ongoing border tension between India and Pakistan, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has refused to send a batch of Sikh devotees to Pakistan. Jatha leaves every year on a visit to Gurdwaras in Pakistan on the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh

SGPC said that in the current situation this decision has been taken prioritizing security. More than 200 devotees had already applied for this visit and sent their passports to SGPC for visa related action.
Every year 2 to 3 thousand devotees used to visit Pakistan Gurudham.
Union Minister Majumdar hurt Sikh sentiments
Meanwhile, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami strongly criticized the act of Union Minister Sukant Majumdar in which he threw slippers at a Sikh youth. This sandal started on the turban of a Sikh youth. Dhami described it as more unfortunate against Sikh sentiments and demanded legal action on it. He said that this incident has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
