Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has said that he himself refused to take the captaincy. Not only this, Bumrah described himself as available for the first Test against England. The 31 -year -old fast bowler spoke to Dinesh Karthik on Sky.
On the question of captaincy, Bumrah said- ‘I had forbidden the selectors for the captaincy. There are no fancy stories, there is no dispute or there is no headline statement that I was dismissed or not seen towards me. After Rohit Sharma’s retirement, many former cricketers supported Bumrah to make Bumrah a captain.
The Indian team has to play a 5 Test series against England from 20 June. The first match will be played in Leeds. The tour will run till 4 August.
I told the board- don’t make me captain: Bumrah Bumrah told that I spoke to the board before Rohit-Kohli retired. I spoke about my workload. He managed my back pain, I talked to them. I also talked to the surgeon. It was a workload so I talked to him and then we came to the conclusion that I have to be a little more smart. That is why I told the board- ‘I don’t want me to be seen as leadership.’

Bumrah will play the first Test against England Bumrah described himself as available for the first Test against England. Talking about his fitness, he said- ‘I want to play in three matches. At the moment, this is the plan. No number has been fixed yet. But, I am ready for the first match. We have to see how things pass. ‘
