Union Government Annual Toll Pass: A new system will be implemented in the country from August 15, under which toll passes will be issued for people traveling on the national highway for a year. People can take this annual pass as per their convenience. If a person takes this pass, then in a year he can come to come on 200 tolls without paying any money. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari made public this information through a post on social media platform X on Wednesday (June 18, 2025).

Posting on X, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “Under a historic initiative, Fastag based annual pass is being started from 15 August 2025. This pass will be valid for one year or up to 200 visits, for one year or up to 200 visits, it will remain valid”

He added, “This pass has been specially designed for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans etc.) and it will make it possible for uninterrupted journey on national highways across the country”

The link will be made available on the app and website to make and update the pass

The Union Minister said, “For the annual pass activation/renovation, a separate link will be made available on the highway travel app and websites of NHAI/MORTH, which will make the process simple and accessible. This policy will showcase the long -standing concerns about toll plazas located within 60 kilometers and will make the toll pay comfortable through the same accessible transactions.”

The objective of the pass is to eliminate the dispute over toll plazas and make it easy- Minister

The Union Minister said, “After the implementation of this annual pass, the waiting time is reduced by reducing the crowd and ending the dispute over toll plazas, the annual pass policy is committed to millions of private drivers to fast, smooth and better travel experience.”

Several thousand rupees to be spent on toll plazas will be saved from this scheme

For example, if a person has to come and go from Delhi to Banaras by road, then he may have to spend more than 3000 rupees on the toll. If it is going to come and go two to three times a year, then it can cost 9000 to 10,000 rupees, but if an annual pass of Rs 3000 is taken, then you can save several thousand rupees. In such a situation, this pass can prove to be more beneficial for those people, who had to pay money on toll continuously using the national highway, because through this, 200 toll booths can be crossed without any expenses by paying Rs 3000 annually.

Although it is also important to make it clear here that it will not be a compulsion to take an annual pass, but those who want to take the pass annual can take advantage of it.
