Israel Attacks Iran: The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has brought the Middle East to the threshold of war. On the one hand, while Israel has intensified the attack on Iran’s nuclear bases, on the other hand the silence and vague statements of US President Donald Trump have become a matter of global concern. Trump’s stance can prove to be important in deciding whether this conflict will turn into a complete war or move towards negotiation.
Trump’s silence and warning
Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal that he has approved the plans for attack on Iran, but he wants to see whether Iran leaves his nuclear program before giving his last order. Talking to reporters outside the White House, he said, “I can do it, I can’t even… Nobody knows what I am going to do.”
Trump claimed that Iranian officials wanted to talk in Washington, but he also said, “It’s too late now.” Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministers of Germany, France and Britain will meet Iran’s Foreign Minister in Geneva on Friday to assure him that his nuclear program is only for civil use.
The threat of war deepened
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message, “We are gradually eliminating Iran’s nuclear and missile bases.” He thanked Trump and described him as “a true friend of Israel” and said that he is in constant contact. The Israeli army reported that drones released from Iran were killed in Northern Israel and Jordan Valley. With this, the Israeli Air Force claimed that it had destroyed the police headquarters of Iran.
Khmenei’s warning
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave a strong warning to Trump in a television message on Friday. He said, “If the US has military intervention, it will be such a loss that will never be fulfilled. The Iranian nation will never surrender.”
