Telangana human trafficking: Police have busted a large human trafficking gang in Kumaram Bhima Asifabad district of Telangana. The gang was sending poor and illiterate women of the agency areas of the district to other states of the country by implicating them in the deception of jobs. The police have arrested nine accused so far, while the three main accused are still absconding.

According to DSP Ramanujam, the gang used to exploit women in states like Delhi, Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh in the name of domestic maid or factory laborers. Many victims were forced to work under inhuman conditions. The police have taken the accused on remand on the complaint of the victims and soon a charge sheet will be presented in the court.

Women and Child Development Department offer help
In view of the seriousness of the case, the Women and Child Development Department has assured legal aid and rehabilitation to the victims. Officials say that in such cases, the victims should immediately contact the government helpline number 181 or child helpline 1098.

Decision to run awareness campaign
The police has decided to run an awareness campaign in the villages of the district so that people do not become victims of such cheating. Also, special teams have been formed to catch the absconding accused. The police have appealed to the people to immediately inform the police if anyone sees suspicious activity. In this case, a case has been registered against the accused under the Human Prevention Act (PITA) and strict sections of IPC. Police say that strict action will be taken against those involved in such crimes.
