The jail administration has been stirred up after the cash was recovered from the barrack of Ali Ahmed, son of Atik Ahmed, the mafia in Prayagraj’s Naini Central Jail. On Tuesday, the high security barrack was searched during routine checking of Jail DIG Rajesh Srivastava, where Ali Ahmed is closed. During the search, Rs 1100 cash has been recovered from the barrack.
According to Jail Superintendent Rang Bahadur, a visitor who came to meet Ali Ahmed gave him Rs 1100 so that he could buy coupons for use in jail. Under the gel system, the detainees are not allowed to keep cash and they can only buy the necessary items through coupons. But Ali did not buy this coupon and kept the money hidden with him. The same Rs 1100 was later recovered in the checking of DIG.

Taking the matter seriously, the jail administration has suspended Naini jail deputy jailer Kanti Devi and head warder Sanjay Dwivedi with immediate effect. At the same time, the DIG has also ordered an inquiry into the role of the jailer, deputy jailer and other personnel, so that it can be ascertained whether this whole matter is part of collusion.
Significantly, Ali Ahmed is currently closed in the High Security Barrack. He has been in jail since surrendering in a case of extortion. Apart from this, he is also accused of plotting the Umesh Pal murder case from jail.
Ali Ahmed is also accused of taking charge of the gang IS 227 after the death of his father Atik Ahmed. In such a situation, questions have been raised on the recovery of cash from his barrack and the involvement of jail workers.
