Riza’s father Mohammad Shahid Sheikh has been a Ranji player, while her mother Shabana has been the captain of Rajasthan Women’s team. Mother is now a government teacher, but her passion for cricket also inspired Riza. Reeza says, “The passion of my parents for cricket at home further increased my enthusiasm. In childhood, she used to go to the field with brother Ayaan and the craze for cricket started from there.
Cricket journey started at the age of 14
Reeza joined the cricket academy of St. Anthony’s School at the age of 14. From there his game started improving. He took initial training from his maternal uncle Tariq Khan and took his game to new heights under the supervision of coach Manoj Chaudhary. The result of his hard work was that in just one year he was selected in the Rajasthan Under-19 team.
A flurry of records in cricket
Reeza Shaikh trained at SK Khaitan Women’s Academy and created many records with her performance. In the Under-19 match between Rajasthan and Assam, he scored 50 runs representing Rajasthan. Apart from this, he proved his talent by scoring a century in the T-20 interstate match. Reeza says that I never thought that I would go into cricket. But after going to the field with my brother and taking inspiration from my parents, cricket became my dream. Today I am proud that I took the right decisions in this direction and now I am getting success. Reeza has been selected for the Rajasthan team in the Under-23 T-20 Trophy. After this achievement, Riza’s next goal is to make her mark at the national and international level.
