Amid the increasing tension in Iran and Israel, India has started the work of bringing its citizens back safely, starting ‘Operation Indus’. As part of this campaign, the first chartered aircraft from Mashad in Iran at around 11:40 pm on Friday night made a safe land at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The flight had Indian students and citizens who were stranded in Iran.
The Government of India is bringing back a total of about 1,000 Indians in a phased manner. Iran’s chartered flights are being used for this rescue operation.

We consider Indians like our own people- Iran
The Indian Embassy Deputy Chief Mohammad Jawad Hussaini in Iran informed the media, saying, “We consider Indians like our own people. Iran’s aircraft is closed but we are arranging to temporarily open it for safe withdrawal of Indian citizens.”
The Iranian official said, “The first flight will reach Delhi on Friday night and two more flights will leave for India on Saturday.” The second flight will leave Ashgabat on Saturday morning and reach Delhi at around 10 am, while the third flight will reach India on Saturday evening.

India has started operation ‘Sindhu’
This relief step has been taken when the situation between Iran and Israel is continuously deteriorating and a situation like war has become in the area. In such a situation, the Government of India started Operation Indus, showing readiness, so that not only the students but also other trapped Indian citizens can be evacuated.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, it has been said that the government gives the security of every citizen top priority and every necessary assistance is being provided in this hour of crisis.
