Amid the ongoing military conflict between Israel and Iran, India has run ‘Operation Sindhu’ to get its citizens out of the war zone. Under this, three different flights have reached New Delhi with 656 Indian students and citizens so far from Iran. In the first batch, 110 students were airlifted, out of which 90 students were from Kashmir. 290 in the second batch and 256 Indian citizens in the third batch have been brought out of Iran to New Delhi.
Students and pilgrims expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for ensuring a safe return between Israeli-Iran struggle. As soon as Indian citizens landed at Delhi Airport under Operation Sindhu, they raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Hindustan Zindabad’. Noida resident Tajkia Fatima said, ‘I am very grateful to Prime Minister Modi. Now I am feeling peace after coming back to my country… It is a matter of pleasure to come back to my homeland. There is a situation of war. We were not sure how we would leave from there, but the Indian government made the whole process very comfortable. I am very grateful to the Government of India.

Indian citizen Almas Rizvi, who was taken out of Iran under Operation Indus, said, ‘We were given a place to stay in a good hotel and on time, afternoon, dinner, everything was given. It looks good after coming back to your country. The Indian Embassy helped us a lot. The Government of India took good care of us and we did not even let us realize that we are living in a situation like war. Another Indian citizen Eliya Batul said, ‘I am unable to tell what I am feeling right now. My family was very worried. We were comfortable in Iran, we were provided with a 5-star hotel and we were provided security. But after coming here, we are feeling comfortable. Thank you very much to the Government of India.

Indian citizen Dania, who was taken out of Iran under Operation Indus, said, ‘I am very happy. We were scared. The situation in Tehran was very frightening. I thank the Indian Embassy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wholeheartedly, due to which we can reach safely here. Maulana Mohammad Saeed praised the safe withdrawal of Indians and said, ‘We are happy and grateful that we were able to return home safe and healthy. The situation in Iran is not good and we all know. The Indian Embassy and our ambassador made the evacuation process very smooth and safe.

Mir Mohammad Musharraf of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir also appreciated the efforts of the Government of India, saying, ‘I am from Pulwama, Kashmir … Operation Sindhu is amazing and really helpful. Services were very good. We contacted our embassy. We were trapped in Tehran, I did not know what to do. Our landlord also left and we were left behind. This was only our embassy that helped us reach here. Thank you very much, Government of India. Iran closed its airspace until further orders after Israeli carried out airstrikes on several locations across the country, including the capital Tehran on 13 June.
