Us updates Travel Advisory for India Over Rape Terror Attack Naxalism Congress Attack Modi Government

Us Travel Advisory India: The US Foreign Ministry has issued Level-2 travel advisory for its citizens and working people living in India. The advisory was updated on 16 June 2025, stating that “more vigilance” is needed in India given crime, terrorism and especially crimes against women. In this, women have been advised not to travel alone, especially in tourist places and crowded areas.

Concern over increasing cases of rape and violence
The US advisory states that rape has become one of the fastest growing crimes in India. Also, sexual violence and other serious crimes are happening at tourist places. Advisory has also warned that the US government is not able to provide emergency services to its citizens in rural areas. This has expressed more concern about the situation there.

Terrorist attack, Naxalite threat and vigilance over border dispute
The US has asked its citizens to stay away from tourist places, malls, government buildings and transport hubs as there is a threat to terrorist attacks. In advisory, India-Pakistan Loc (Line of Control) and Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam in Kashmir have also been described as sensitive for violence. Apart from this, the US also pointed to Naxalite threat and said that Maoist activities are active in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Meghalaya, Eastern Maharashtra and North Telangana.

Congress raised questions on Modi government
The Congress has attacked the central government regarding this American travel advisory. The Karnataka Congress called it a shock to India’s international image. He wrote on X, “The American travel advisory shocked India! The warning of June 2025 states that women should not travel in India alone because the threats of rape, violence and terrorism are increasing. Is it the end of the claim of PM’s ‘safe India’? @Narendramodi and @BJP4India.
