A female passenger was killed and four others were injured in a fierce road accident in Palghar, Maharashtra on Sunday morning. The accident occurred near Arnala Society Stop when a state transport (ST) bus hit an auto rickshaw. The collision was so strong that 38 -year -old woman Kavita Nitin Kolge died on the spot.
According to the report of the news agency, the police said that all the injured passengers, including the deceased, were boarding the auto. The auto was run by Poonam Wartha, who was seriously injured in the accident. Another female passenger Meenakshi Yogesh Patil is also seriously injured and has been admitted to the hospital. Two male passengers aboard the auto have suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid.
Local eyewitnesses said that the speed of the state transport bus going from Arnala to Shirdi was slightly higher than normal. The bus lost control and hit the auto coming from the front. The collision was so fast that the auto overturned and the passengers riding in it fell on the road.
The Palghar police have registered a case and started investigation. Initial investigation is believed to be a possible reason for the accident of the bus driver or driving at a high speed. However, the police has clarified that the real reason will come out only after a detailed investigation.
Local people say that roads are narrow in Arnala area and it is necessary to drive public transport vehicles carefully. The police has started questioning the bus driver and CCTV footage is also being investigated. The Palghar police has informed the family of the deceased and the treatment of the injured is being monitored.
