A case of stamp theft of 62.87 crore has been exposed at Lala Nagar toll plaza located in Bhadohi border of Varanasi Prayagraj National Highway in Uttar Pradesh. The toll operator company had a toll contract for 15 years for 3144 crores from NHAI, but it was registered at a stamp of hundred rupees, calling it a general contract. Whereas such a contract is considered lease and it has two percent of stamp duty mandatory. In such a situation, AIG Stamp has filed a case under Collector Stamp, assuming a stamp of 62.87 crores.
It may be noted that weigh plaza is set up in Lala Nagar in Bhadohi border of Varanasi Prayagraj National Highway. On 18 March 2023, Delhi -based company Kashi Toll Way got a contract to operate toll operations from NHAI for 15 years. For this, the company paid 3144 crore rupees. It is claimed that the company had registered this lease under the general contract.

On 26 November 2024, the Principal Secretary directed to investigate the toll contracts. After this, a notice was issued from the company by issuing notice on behalf of the Registry Department. But the company did not give the correct answer. After which it was revealed on receiving the contract letter from RTI that a general contract has been shown on a hundred rupees stamp. Whereas this is a lease contract and in such a situation, a stamp of 62.88 crore is made at 3144 crores. After this theft is caught, AIG Stamp has filed a case under Collector Stamp.
