Ind vs Eng: Why not Sachin Tendulkar’s name first? Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the British, angry with this decision – IND vs Eng Test Series Sunil Gavaskar Slams ECB Over Anderson Trophy Decision Why Sachin Tendulkar Name Not First Tspoa

The 5 -match Test series between India and England began on June 20 at the Handingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. This series between India and England is being played for ‘Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy’ this time. The trophy has been named after two cricket veterans James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar.

Sunil Gavaskar targeted ECB

Let us know that earlier the Pataudi Trophy was given to the winner of the Test series between India and England, but the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) decided to change the name before the start of the current series. The tradition of giving Pataudi Trophy started in 2007, when 75 years of the first Test match played on English earth between the two countries were completed.

Now former India captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has targeted ECB fiercely. Gavaskar is not happy why James Anderson was named before Sachin Tendulkar in the ‘Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy’. It is being argued that the series has been named in Alphabetical Order, but Gavaskar has rejected this argument.

Sunil Gavaskar believes that the achievements of ‘God’ Sachin Tendulkar of cricket are more than Anderson in every case. Gavaskar urged Indian fans to call the current series ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’.

Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column in Mid-Day, ‘ECB has every right to call this series by any name, but it is a surprising thing for most Indian cricket fans that Anderson’s name comes first in it. Along with Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar is not only the greatest Indian cricketer, but is more than 12 years older than James Anderson.

He further wrote, ‘As far as runs and centuries in Test cricket are concerned, Sachin Tendulkar is number-1, but he has also scored the most runs. Anderson is third in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets in Test cricket and his record is not as good as Tendulkar in ODI cricket.

Sunil Gavaskar also mentioned that English veteran James Anderson was never part of the ODI World Cup winning team. Although Anderson was part of the England team that won the T20 World Cup in 2010, he did not get a chance to play in a single match then. Gavaskar says, ‘Jimmy Anderson was mainly a great bowler in English conditions. His record abroad is not as good as Tendulkar.

Gavaskar also raised questions on this decision

The ECB had announced that the captain who won the series would be given the Pataudi medal, so that the legacy of the Pataudi family would be maintained. But Sunil Gavaskar has raised the question that what will happen if the series touches the draw? Gavaskar suggested that in the Test matches played in this series, the Pataudi medal was received as the ‘Player of the Match’ award. At the same time, ‘Player of the Series’ should be given Pataudi Trophy.
