Litton Das’s return .. Soumya government out, Bangladesh team announced for ODI series against Sri Lanka

New DelhiLitton Das and left -arm opener Naeem Sheikh have been called back to Bangladesh’s ODI team for the upcoming three -match series against Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made this announcement on Monday. This ODI series will be held from July 2 to July 8, with the first two matches in Colombo and the last ODI will be played in Pallekele. Naeem is returning to the ODI team after almost two years.

Apart from Litton and Naeem, Shamim Patwari, Tanveer Islam and Hasan Mahmood have also joined the team. The last time the team participated in the Champions Trophy, experienced Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have retired from ODIs, while Soumya Sarkar and Nasum Ahmed have been dropped from the team. Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have also returned to the team after recovering from injury, which had recently dropped them out of the T20 series.

Naeem made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Silhat in March 2020, played eight ODIs and scored 95 runs. Regarding Litton’s return, Ashraf said, “Litton Das was in a bad phase, but time is the best treatment. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup. If someone has to come back in the form, it is best that he stayed in the field for a long time. We think that Litton can take his ODI form in T20 too.”

Ashraf said that five fast bowlers have been included in the team to manage the charge of Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana. “We have included five fast bowlers in the ODI team, because Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are recovering from injury. We are also conscious of Nahid Rana’s charge management, so we have made enough options,” he said.
