White sauce, tomato sauce and chili sauce are examples of this. On the other hand, if we talk about soup, the soup is a thin or light thick liquid food which gives a lot of vitamins and minerals to the body. Increase blood sugar level: The cornstarch has a very high amount of carbs and its glycemic index is very high. That is, it increases your blood sugar very fast. It contains less fiber which is an important nutrient that slows down the absorption of sugar in your blood stream. If someone has type 2 diabetes, then they should avoid consuming cornstrastructures.
Damage to Heart Health: Cornstarch is considered refined carb, which means it ends. Research shows that consuming more quantity of refined carbs like cornstarch has a negative effect on heart health.
According to an analysis, consuming food with refined carbs and foods with more glycemic index is highly at risk of coronary heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Lack of nutrition: Nutritionist Ms. Manjula Sridhar of Apollo Spectra Hospitals said during an interview that it is not nutritious because it does not contain vitamins, minerals and fiber.
At the same time, micro nutrients like copper and selenium are also in small amounts. Therefore, it is necessary to mix with the balance diet so that nutritional needs can be met.
How much quantity safe?
There can be many disadvantages of cornstarch but can be mixed in some quantity with healthy, balance diet. Anyone can consume it up to 1-2 tbsp (8-16 grams) at a time, but rather you can use other cornstarch options such as errors, wheat flour, potato starch and tapioca starch. If you have diabetes or you are following low carb diet, then reduce the intake of cornstarch.
