Tripura literature: Tripura has achieved a historical achievement. The state has been declared a complete literate state under Ullas – New India Literacy Program. This program is being run by the central government from 2022 to 2027. Tripura has now become the third state in the country after Mizoram and Goa, which has received this honor.
On this occasion, a grand program was held at Ravindra Shatabdi Bhawan in Agartala, the capital of Tripura. In this, Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Namnik Saha, senior officials of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, representatives of the State Education Department and the community were present.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s statement
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described this achievement as historic for Tripura. He said that in 1961, the literacy rate of the state was only 20.24%, which has now increased to 95.6%. He credited this success to Ullas Yojana and National Education Policy 2020. Explain that the objective of the Ullas scheme is to make those people of 15 years or older literate, who can never go to school. Under this scheme, digital education was promoted through house-to-house survey and Ullas mobile app in Tripura.

Thousands of volunteers, learners, leaders and officials of the Department of Education have contributed significantly in this achievement. This success also realizes the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of developed India @2047. This program has emerged as a model for other states and union territories. This achievement of Tripura is a strong step towards making India a full literate nation.
