No fuel forward vehicles policy: In the country’s capital Delhi, from July 1, it was announced to not give petrol and diesel to the fuel pump. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had said on June 21 that, from July 1, any end-of-life vehicle will not be allowed to fill their tanks at fuel stations in Delhi, whether they are registered in any state.
Now the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA) has approached the government on this matter and demanded the removal of penalty provisions. Let me tell you that the end-of-life vehicles here means that the diesel vehicle is 10 years old and the petrol vehicle which is 15 years old.
What is the demand of the association?
The Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA) on Monday urged the government that if the fuel pump dealer ‘not fuel for old vehicles’ (‘ No fuel for old vehicles failed to implement the policy, then the punitive provisions imposed on them should be withdrawn.
In a letter to Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh and Transport Commissioner, the DPDA said that the rule states that “immediate legal action should be taken in relation to such end-of-life vehicles, including confiscation and disposing them.”
At the same time, this letter also states that, under the Essential Commodities Act, petrol pump dealers are prohibited from refusing to fuel any customer. In this case, there is a situation of conflict when the order of not giving petrol-diesel to old vehicles and following the rules of the Act. ”
The DPDA also said that the petrol pump cannot act as an enforcement officer and also informed the government about the problems faced by doing so. Referring to the recent incidents in the letter, it has been said that “recently a pump attendant was shot in Ghaziabad for implementing the ‘Helmet or Fuel No’ policy.”
Now, before implementing the new policy of the government ‘No Fuel for Old Vehicles’, the association has demanded to deploy adequate police forces at petrol pumps. So that any kind of emergency can be avoided while implementing this new policy in future.
Do not be punitive action:
The DPDA said in its letter that, “As per the new order of the government, the provision of punitive action, including arrest of dealers or pump attendants if the policy is not practical nor acceptable, is neither practical nor acceptable. Such measures will not only disrupted essential services, but the scheme will also fail.”
The DPDA has demanded the department to reconsider and cancel the punitive provisions imposed on petrol pump dealers. Apart from this, the association has also said that no SOP has been shared by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in this matter, so the SOP should also be shared to implement the new policy properly.
