India’s Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra has won the gold medal in the Ostrava Golden Spike held in the Czech Republic and illuminated the name of the country in another International Jewelin Tournament. Neeraj threw 85.29 meters in the third round, which no other athlete could cross. South Africa’s Dow Smit threw an 84.12 meter spear in the second round, which was the best performance in six rounds. He finished second. At the same time, Peter Anderson of Grenada threw 83.63 meters in his first attempt and it was his best performance in six rounds. He finished third.
Neeraj had earlier attended Ostrava in the IAAF Continental Cup in 2018, where he finished sixth with a throw of 80.24 meters. However, in the Ostrava Golden Spike, this was his first appearance. Neeraj Chopra ended the event with foul throw. But world champion Chopra will be happy with his performance, as he has won the second consecutive event after the Paris Diamond League. In his Diamond League opener in Doha, Neeraj Chopra crossed the 90 meter figure for the first time with a throw of 90.23 meters, which was better than his previous best 89.94 meters- despite this milestone, Neeraj finished second after the Julian Weber of Germany, who threw 91.06 meters.
