There is a moment of pride for India, because Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is ready to illuminate the name of India in space. He will travel to the International Space Station (ISS) under the Gaganyaan program of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Axiom Mission-4 (AX-4).

1. Second astronaut of India
Shubhanshu Shukla will be the second astronaut of India, who will go to space. Earlier in 1984, Rakesh Sharma took part in the Mission of the Soviet Union.
2. Part of Axiom Mission-4
Shubhanshu will be a pilot of Axiom Mission-4, which is a private space mission. The mission will be launched on 25 June 2025 in collaboration with NASA, ISRO and SpaceX.

3. First Indian on ISS
This will be the first time an Indian astronaut will go to the International Space Station (ISS). Shubhanshu will stay on ISS for 14 days and will do various experiments.
4. Training and experience
Shubhanshu is an experienced Test pilot of the Indian Air Force. They have experience of more than 3000 hours in Sukhoi-30, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk and other aircraft. He has undergone training at Yuri Gagarin Cosmonot Training Center in Russia.
5. Scientific experiment
Shubhanshu will use 7 Indians and 5 on ISS with NASA. These include experiments such as growing crops like moong and fenugreek in space and understanding the effects of space on the human body.
6. Demonstration of Indian culture
He will do yoga in space. India’s cultural objects such as Indian sweets and a toy will take Hans (Joy), which will be a symbol of mission by swimming in zero gravity.
7. Launch and Technical Details
The mission will be launched on 25 June 2025 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida through Falcon 9 rocket and dragon spacecraft. This mission has been postponed 7 times due to weather and technical reasons.
8. International Cooperation
This mission includes astronauts from India, Poland, Hungary and America. This mission is the first government space mission for these countries after 40 years.

9. Preparation for Gaganyaan Mission
The experience of the AX-4 mission will be important for India’s first human space mission, Gaganyaan. Gaganyaan will take three Indian astronauts to the lower orbit of the Earth in 2026.
10. Inspiration and education
Shubhanshu will hold a live conversation with Indian students from ISS to increase their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem). He will also share photos and videos of his journey, which will be inspiration for 1.4 billion Indians.
