New Delhi. Sachin Tendulkar recalled India’s first ODI World Cup victory in 1983, 42 years ago, how he chose cricket as his dream at the age of 10, which later became his journey. On Wednesday, this big cricketing win of India is the 42nd anniversary. On 25 June 1983, Kapil Dev and his team won the title of champion by defeating West Indies at Lord’s.

After winning the title in 1975 and 1979, the West Indies was set to win the World Cup Trophy for the third time, but India stopped him from making a hat -trick. Recalling the 1983 World Cup, Sachin said, “I was only 10 years old when India won the World Cup on this day in 1983. That moment aroused a dream and that dream became my journey.”
