On one side in the country, people’s thinking about Dalit society is changing. At the same time, on the other hand there are still many such cases, where people’s thinking has not changed. For centuries, people of Dalit society were kept away from education, temples, water sources and public places. Even though the law has now placed untouchability as crime, but even today, this discrimination is seen in many forms in people’s behavior in many places. A case related to this has surfaced in Chamarajanagar city of Karnataka.
Here a case of discrimination by students and their parents has come to light in a government school in Chamarganj Nagar, Karnataka. A total of 21 students here have withdrawn their admission from the government school only because a Dalit woman was appointed to make food here. When the educational year was admitted for the year 2024-25, a total of 22 students took their admission to the government school, but in the mid-day meal, the Dalit woman came to know about the cooking, then the parents of the students decided that they would expel their children from the school. Now only one student is left in this school.
