Kolkata law college case: The police have arrested the three accused who carried out the horrific incident of gang rape with law students in West Bengal. Political response has also come to light about this matter. TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee made a controversial comment and said that what can be done if a friend rapes his friend?
‘If only a friend, it is a cruelty with his friend …’
TMC Sasand Kalyan Banerjee said, “I am not in favor of the incident in Law College. The accused should be arrested. Some people commit such crimes … but what can be done if a friend raped his friend?” He asked if there would be police in schools too?
Referring to the gang rape gang -rape with law students, he said, “This was done by a student by the students. Who will protect her (victim)? This (South Calcutta Law College) is a government college. Will the police always stay there?”
Will continue fighting till justice- BJP
BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya shared pictures of Abhishek Banerjee with the main accused in the case. He said that TMC is a rapist and a saving party. He said, “We will not let Mamata Banerjee’s rule suppress the voice of justice. The BJP is standing firmly with the victim, we will continue to fight till justice.”
The main accused in this case is Monojit Mishra. His social media handle has revealed that he is the former president of the Trinamool Congress Students Council unit of the college and the organization secretary of the South Kolkata branch of the student organization of Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Women’s Commission directed to investigate immediately
In view of the seriousness of the incident, the National Commission for Women (NCW) wrote a letter to the Kolkata Police Commissioner and instructed him to investigate immediately. NCW has said that it should be compensated under Section 396 of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS).
