Canada-china relations: The Canadian government has ordered Chinese video surveillance and telecom equipment manufacturer Hikvision to stop all its operations in the country due to national security concerns. Industry Minister Melani Jolie gave this information by Friday (27 June 2025). Jolie said on X that the government has determined that Hikavjan Canada Inc. continues to continue operating in Canada would be harmful to Canada’s national security. He said that this decision was taken after a multi-step review of the information provided by the security of Canada and the information provided by the intelligence community.
