Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has recently launched his autobiography The One: Cricket, My Life and More, in which he has shared his first story of his first meeting with former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhawan said that this meeting took place in 2010 during his much awaited ODI debut series against Australia, when he reached the Indian dressing room and met Dhoni for the first time.
Dhawan’s Test debut was under Dhoni’s captaincy in 2013, in which he scored a record 187 runs against Australia. But in October 2010, he got a place in India’s ODI team for the first time. Dhawan wrote that the then captain MS Dhoni looked like a film hero with long hair and big smile.
Dhawan wrote in the book, I wanted to cast him in a Bollywood film. His long hair and spontaneous smile used to make him like a film star. We were talking about my inspiration when I suddenly said, ‘I want to play for India and make you a Bollywood hero!’ Hearing this, he laughed out loud.
