Television industry famous artists Kunal Verma and Pooja Banerjee have been facing serious allegations like kidnapping, threat and extortion of a famous filmmaker. In this whole case, the Goa Police has registered a case and started investigation. A case was registered against both of them under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code in Kolkata, which was later transferred to Kalangut police station in Goa.
It is alleged that Bengali filmmaker Shyam Sundar Dey was called to Goa with the lure of the first film project and then he was forcibly hostage and tortured mentally and physically for three days. During this time, a recovery of Rs 23 lakh was also done from Day. Shyam Sundar Dey and Pooja-Kunal knew each other for a long time. This is the reason that the talk of funding in the film project between the two started.
Filmmaker kidnapped in black car
According to a complaint given by Malabika, wife of Shyam Sundar Dey, Shyam Sundar arrived in Goa on 31 May, where she was called in the name of script discussion. On reaching Goa, a black car stopped him on the way. Pooja Banerjee and Piyush Kothari descended from the car. Both of them forcibly pulled Shyam inside and sat in the car. After this, he was taken to an unknown place and beaten.
Pressure of ransom of 64 lakhs
It is alleged that he was threatened and his mobile phone was taken. Not only this, a ransom of 64 lakh rupees was made on him. They were threatened that if they did not give money, then the drugs would be implicated in the case. Pooja and Kunal took out the data of Shyam’s phone and blackmailed her mentally. He was first kept in a hotel, then shifted to an unknown villa on 1 June.
Forcibly transferred 23 lakh rupees
He was kept under house arrest for three days. During this time, 23 lakh rupees were transferred under pressure. Seeing the situation deteriorating, Shyam’s wife Malabika pleaded for help to the Goa Police on June 3 through email. The police became active as soon as the email was received. After this, on June 4, Shyam Sundar Day was freed. In this case, a case was earlier registered at Panche police station in Kolkata.
Case against Pooja Banerjee, Kunal Verma
After this, the case was transferred to Goa. The police have registered a case against many unidentified people including Pooja Banerjee, Kunal Verma, Piyush Kothari under sections of kidnapping, physical attack, forced recovery, illegal custody and criminal intimidation. The police have called Shyam Sundar Day to a statement before the investigating officer. The police is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter. There may be more revelations in this case.
