Air India flight AI639 going from Mumbai to Chennai had to return to Mumbai Airport on Friday when the cabin felt the smell of burning during the flight. Aar India confirmed the incident on Saturday. A spokesman for Air India said that the crew brought the aircraft back to Mumbai, taking precautions.
The aircraft landed in Mumbai safely, after which an alternative aircraft was arranged for the convenience of passengers. The spokesperson said that the passengers were provided with all possible assistance by the ground staff, so that this sudden problem would have the least trouble.
Similarly, on Friday, another Air India aircraft also reported “non-specific security alert” i.e. vague security threat. However, according to security standards, the aircraft was approved for the next flight after the investigation was completed. The spokesman said, “Passengers and crew safety is the top priority of Air India.”

Such incidents are coming out continuously
Similarly, in another incident, Air India Express flight IX2564, which was going from Delhi to Jammu, had to bring back to Delhi during the flight due to technical fault. The aircraft A320 was supposed to leave at 10:40 am, but it flew at 11:04 am. Landing was expected in Jammu at 12:05 pm, but the flight was turned back to Delhi due to technical disturbances.
Confirming the incident, the Air India Express said, “Alternative aircraft were arranged after the technical problem. We regret the inconvenience.” Let us tell you that these incidents have come to light after the accident of Air India-171 flight going from Ahmedabad to London on June 12, in which 241 out of 242 passengers and crew members were killed.
