A painful accident occurred during the chariot journey of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha. At around 4:30 am on Sunday morning, when the devotees gathered in large numbers to see God in front of Srigundicha temple, there was a push and stampede-like situation. Three people have died in this incident, while more than 50 people are said to be injured.
The injured have been immediately admitted to Puri District Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. The incident occurred in front of Srigundicha temple near Sharadhabali when there was a huge crowd to see Lord Jagannath on the chariot.

Three killed under crowd
At the time of darshan, the crowd became difficult to control and people started pushing. Some people fell on the ground and a stampede situation became. Meanwhile, 3 people were buried under the crowd and they died on the spot. All the deceased are said to be from Khurda district. The dead include two women Prabhati Das and Basanti Sahu and 70 -year -old Premakant Mahanti.
Some of the injured are in critical condition
In such a big religious event, where millions of people gather, questions are being raised on the preparation of crowd control and security system. Those injured in the incident were immediately taken to the district hospital by 108 ambulances. The team of doctors is continuously treating. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.

Millions of devotees participate in the Rath Yatra every year
Puri’s Rath Yatra is one of the biggest religious visits in the country. Every year millions of devotees reach Puri to see Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. During the Rath Yatra, the Lord is brought out of the Shrimandir and taken to the Srigundicha temple, where he rests for a few days. This accident happened in the midst of this journey.
