Telangana Brs President Gellu Sriniva: Telangana’s leading opposition party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president Gallu Srinivas was arrested by the police in Hyderabad on Thursday. Along with this, the police raided BRS’s party office, after which there was a tension clash between the party leaders and the police.
During the incident, BRS leaders raised slogans of “we want justice” and tried to stop the police from entering the party office. Leader General Secretary Ravul Chandrashekhar Reddy, MLC Tata Madhu, former MLA Balk Suman and members of the legal cell strongly opposed the police action. He raised the question of how the police can enter the office of the opposition party without any notice or search warrant.
Arrest warrant issued in old case
Police say that Srinivas was under arrest warrant in an old case, under which he was detained. However, BRS leaders described it as political vengeance and alleged that the government is using the police to suppress the opposition.
BRS will go to court against Srinivas’s arrest
This incident has created political deadlock in the state. BRS leaders are claiming that this action was taken to prevent their entry into the Telangana Bhavan, while the police have rejected these allegations. More investigation is on in the case. The party has announced to fight its legal battle. This incident of increasing tension between the state government and the opposition has given rise to a new controversy in the political corridors. BRS leaders are now demanding judicial intervention, while the government has justified its move to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the police dismissed all these allegations, saying that “all legal procedures were followed and the arrest is completely valid.”
