West Bengal Police is in action mode after the incident of gang rape of a student at Law College in South Kolkata. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating every aspect related to the incident. According to police sources, the clothes of the accused, mobile phones, evidence collected from the scene and CCTV footage have been sent for forensic investigation.
Earlier, the Kolkata Police decided to increase the number of members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for investigation. According to sources, 4 new members have been included in the SIT to ensure the seriousness of the case and to ensure a time -bound investigation. Now there have been a total of 9 members in the SIT.
The investigation team has also seized the clothes of the main accused Manjlan Mishra, which he wore during the incident. Along with this, action is being taken to raid the houses of the other two named accused and confiscate their clothes. Police say that semen, hair or blood marks are found on the clothes of the accused many times in cases like rape, which are exposed in forensic investigation and play an important role in proving the case.
Forensic team inspected the scene
On Friday evening, a team of forensic experts inspected the room of the security guard of the incident and collected several samples from there. All these samples have been sent to the lab. Along with this, mobile phones of the three named accused have also been confiscated, who have been sent to the forensic lab.
The victim has alleged that during the incident, the accused took a photo of her and also made a video. Now forensic experts are trying to extract alleged videos from these mobiles, which can prove to be decisive in confirmation of this serious crime.
DNA check will also be done
DNA investigation will also be done on the basis of evidence collected from the scene and the seized clothes of the accused. Police sources say that this report will be very important in strengthening the case.
CCTV footage will become a strong base of the case
The special investigation team has seized footage of all CCTV cameras inside and outside the college campus. However, there was no camera in the room (guard room) where the incident took place, but the movement of the victim and the accused in the college campus can be clearly seen in these footage. Police believe that this footage will also help in proving the allegations against the accused.
During the investigation, 4 new CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the college campus. Earlier, 3 cameras were installed here. Now 7 cameras are being monitored.
Statement recorded in court
The victim is a law student herself. She reached the Law College with the police team at around 9:33 pm on Saturday night. There he showed the police the place where the incident took place with him. Earlier in the day, the victim was taken to Alipur court, where she recorded her confidential statement in a closed room before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Medical examination and counseling also completed
On Saturday, medical examination of the victim and the three arrested accused was also conducted at Kolkata Medical College-Hospital. According to police sources, these reports are very important in the legal process. However, not all reports have been received yet.
Efforts are also being made to overcome the victim from mental condition. He was also taken to a psychological counler.
Frequent statements are changing accused
A total of four accused have been arrested so far. All these are being questioned by SIT. According to sources, three accused are trying to confuse the police every time by giving separate statements. The SIT will now sit face to face and inquire all these accused so that the truth can be brought to the fore.
Preparation for the identity and statement of witnesses
The police has sought a list of all the students present in the college on Wednesday evening from the college administration. Police say that the statements of all those students will be recorded as witnesses, so that the developments can be confirmed.
