Rishabh Pant pretended injury in the T20 World Cup final 2024

New Delhi. India won the T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in a very exciting final on 29 June 2024 i.e. just a year ago. India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma has revealed what was going on in his mind when Rishabh Pant was injured in the final last year. He said that initially he felt that Pant’s old injury had emerged again, but later it was understood that it was a strategy.

Rohit Sharma -led team won the T20 World Cup by winning the last over against South Africa in Barbados. One of the most popular stories of this victory was how Pant broke the rhythm of South Africa by pretending to be hurt, after which Henrik Klassen’s crucial wicket fell. Rohit had said after the World Cup, “When South Africa wanted 30 runs in 30 balls, a short break occurred. Pant put his mind and stopped the game. He had a knee injury, so he taped his knee, which slowed down the pace of the game, which at that time the batsmen wanted the ball to be thrown early.”

In a new claim on this incident, Rohit said that he felt that Pant had really been injured. He felt that Pant had a knee injury which was involved in a car accident three years ago. Talking on Star Sports, Rohit said, “Look, Hardik had come there to bowl. We were discussing with Hardik what to do. I did not know what happened earlier. I really felt that something happened.”

Rohit further said, “After that accident I felt that he was just trying. But in reality it was to stop the game a little. Momentum was with him, so it was very important to break it.”

Klassen looked completely controlled in Run Chase. South Africa needed 26 runs in the last 24 balls. David Miller was set with Klassen on the other side. Soon Pant was seen lying on the ground and a physio ran to take care of him. When the game resumed after the short break, Pandya dismissed Klassen and then Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Marco Jenson from an Inswinger, after which India took the match.
