The police have got a big success in the famous Canara Bank robbery case of ₹ 53.26 crore in Vijaypura district of Karnataka. In this case, the police have arrested three accused including bank manager Vijaykumar Miriyal. The surprising thing is that this manager conspired and stole 59 kg of gold and ₹ 5.3 lakh cash.

The theft took place from 23 to 25 May at Canara Bank branch of Manguli village. The accused first cut the wires of electricity and CCTV and then removed the window grill and took out the gold from the locker without any loss. He did not use any tools like gas cutters, but he used the duplicate key made by the manager during his previous term in the same branch.

The plan was made several months ago

Police investigation revealed that Vijaykumar had made careful plans for robbery months ago. He took the former bank employee Chandrashekhar Nerela, who is now the contractor and the operator of the casino and took Sunil Moka (assistant to Vijaykumar).

Police investigation revealed that the accused spread chili powder and misled the investigative dogs and also left the goods related to black magic so that the police would be confused.

Many times seen Hollywood movies
The gang allegedly watched many films related to Hollywood, Bollywood and Netflix robbery to understand how to use helmets to wear clothes, wear masks and avoid identity.

Vijaypura SP Laxman Nimbargi said, ‘The loot was planned in several months, which was allegedly discussed in the early February itself. The accused went to Managuli village several times to survey the area. Bank manager Vijay was working in the Managuli Canara Bank branch till May 9, after which he was transferred to Ronihal branch.

In January, the accused had already made duplicate keys of bank locker. He repeatedly tested the keys to which key will work. Once they managed to find the right key, they waited for the right time to carry out the robbery.

CCTVs of the entire village closed
The accused deliberately waited till Vijay’s transfer so that the new employees of the bank were suspicious. He finalized the plan to rob the bank on 23 May but postponed it due to RCB vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL match that day. On the eve of the robbery, they neutralized the CCTV cameras in the village and cut high-mast lighting wires to avoid watching.

He also arranged a truck for transport and used motorcycles to roam secretly in Managuli village. To mislead the police investigation, the accused adopted several misleading strategies. The entire robbery was carried out with a crime thriller inspired plan and accuracy.

11 kg of gold recovered so far

So far, the police have recovered 11 kg gold (₹ 10.75 crore) and seized two cars used in crime. Many other accused are still absconding and eight police teams are looking for him.

Vijayapura SP Laxman Nimbargi has expressed confidence that the entire gang will be caught soon. Thousands of depositors have breathed a sigh of relief from this action, who had given up hope of returning their jewelery.
