Dattatreya Hosbale made a statement on the Socialist-Secular words of the preface at the program organized at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi on 26 June.

The Youth Congress has filed a complaint against RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosbale in Bengaluru. The complaint alleged that Hosbale has said in the preamble to remove the word socialist and secular.

Youth Congress Legal Cell Chairman Sridhar, co-chairman rich Hegde alleged that this is not just an ideological comment, but it is an attempt to weaken the basic spirit of the Constitution.

Sridhar wrote in the letter that such public statements harm democratic values and should be taken seriously.

Hosbale had said that the original constitution did not have socialists and secular words. They were added during the Emergency. So should these words remain in the constitution? It should be considered.

Hosbale had said- Secularism and socialism were added during the Emergency

Dattatreya Hosbale said that the program organized at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi on 26 June and ’50 years of Emergency’ in Hyderabad on 27 June said that the original constitution did not have socialist and secular words. They were added during the Emergency.

He had said that during the Emergency, two words secularism and socialism were added to the preface of the Constitution of India. These were not in the preamble of the constitution earlier. Later there was no attempt to remove them. Both types of sides were discussed. So should these words remain in the constitution? It should be considered.

He had said that the Constitution was murdered during the Emergency and the independence of the judiciary was abolished. During the Emergency, more than one lakh people were imprisoned, more than 250 journalists were imprisoned, 60 lakh people were forcibly sterilized. If this work was done by his ancestors, then he should apologize in his name.

CPI (M) MP- Do not weaken the spirit of the constitution

CPI (M) Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar also wrote a letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and said that the organization should accept the spirit of the Constitution and stop trying to weaken it.

Kumar wrote in his letter that words like “Socialist and Secular” are the diversity of India and the foundation of a fair society. Talking about removing them is like breaking the promises made to the public at the time of independence.

Rahul Gandhi had said- RSS-BJP needs Manusmriti, not the constitution

On Dattatreya’s statement, Rahul Gandhi wrote in the X post- BJP-RSS wants to snatch his rights from Bahujans and poor and enslave him again. His real agenda is their real agenda to snatch a powerful weapon like the Constitution.

Vice President Dhankhar said- these words become canker

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said on 28 July that the words ‘secular and socialist’, which were added by amending the preamble of the Constitution in the era of Emergency, have become a cancer. The preamble is sacred and cannot be changed, the added words are an insult to the spirit of Sanatan.

The Vice President said- The words in the preamble in 1976 during the Emergency were canker and could create turmoil. These changes indicate betrayal with the Constitution. This is nothing but to shorten the country’s civilization-wealth and knowledge of thousands of years.

On Saturday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said during the launch of former BJP MLC DS Veeraiya’s book ‘Ambedkar’s message’. He said that BR Ambedkar worked hard on the constitution. He must have focused on these changes.
