On June 25, a case of gang rape of two senior students and an alumnus was revealed with a first year student of South Calcutta Law College. After this matter came to light, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party are angry and they have questioned the law and order of Bengal. Senior BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari also led a rally on Sunday and demanded the safety of every daughter in West Bengal. Similar rallies were taken out in the city and its outskirts by Congress, Marxist Communist Party of Communist Party (CPI -M) and civil institution.
