The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has deployed about 30 trained soldiers of its Mountain Rescue Teams (MRT) for the Amarnath Yatra 2025 to ensure the safety of devotees passing through inaccessible hills.

The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin on 3 July. MRT teams include Advanced Trained CRPF personnel in the mountain rescue, who will be employed along the Baltal route. This route is one of the two major routes leading to the Amarnath Cave Temple.

These teams will be operated under the Srinagar sector of CRPF and will be coordinated with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of Jammu and Kashmir. Confirming this deployment, DIG and Joint Nodal Officer Sudhir Kumar told ‘Aaj Tak’ that the role of MRT will be important in improving the safety and support system of devotees.

Traveling through two routes

“Their presence will not only help people facing physical difficulties on the way, but will also ensure quick and coordinated rescue efforts in the event of floods, landslides or other natural disasters.”

Amarnath Yatra is taking place on two routes. A total of 54 mountain rescue teams, separate paramilitary forces, have been deployed on Pahalgam and Baltal routes. The aim is that if the situation of disaster comes in any way on the Amarnath Yatra route, then the passengers can be saved completely. For this reason, Mountain Rescue Team has been deployed on both routes.
