According to the university administration, the fee has been changed based on courses by dividing various countries into groups. Especially humanities have seen the most cuts in courses. Jawaharlal Nehru University has reduced tuition fees for foreign students from this academic year to 80% to prevent a rapid decline in enrollment of foreign students.

Students in West Asia will have to pay $ 600 instead of $ 1,900 in science, which is 68% cut and humanities will have to pay $ 500 instead of $ 1,500, which is 66% fall.
African and Latin American students are quite relieved
JNU has cut the fees of up to 80% for students from African and Latin American countries studying in Humanities. This step has been taken keeping in mind the students of those countries, which are considered developing or economically weak. The fee has been changed for groups of different countries based on courses. The most cut has been made for humanities courses. Humanities have been cut by 80% for students from African and Latin American countries. There has been a decrease of 57-71% for students of SAARC countries. This change in fees has been made to promote JNU as a destination among foreign students. Students of poor countries are unable to pay huge fees, so this decision is being taken.
For students from all other countries, the semester fee for science courses has been increased from $ 1,900 to $ 1,250, which is 34% decline, and has been increased from $ 1,500 to $ 1,000 for humanities, which is a 33% cut. All foreign students will now have to pay a lump sum registration fee of $ 500. In recent years, this amendment has been made in the background of a huge decline in the entry of foreign students into the university. In the first 2020-21 there were 152 foreign students in JNU, which declined to 122 in 2021-22, 77 in 2022-23 and only 51 in 2023-24.
