Party sources said that Mitra also gave an explanation about the reference to the comment.
He told that his reply was brief and was in two parts. Trinamool Congress is reviewing Madan Mitra’s reply
Sources said that the party is reviewing their reply and after considering its content, they will decide on further action. The dispute began when a student of Law College, South Calcutta alleged that she was raped on the college campus on 25 June. After that Mitra had commented that if the woman had not gone to the premises alone, this incident could have been postponed.
What was Mitra?
Mitra had said, “If the girl had not gone there alone, then this incident would not have happened. He should have taken his friends along, should have informed his parents or told party workers. The accused took advantage of the situation. ‘
Following this statement by Mitra, the Trinamool Congress released a statement separating himself from his comments on Saturday night and described it as his ‘private opinion’. It was also clarified that Trinamool does not support such ideas.
