S jaishankar on trump: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has described India as a civilized nation, pluralist democracy, a source of talent, diplomatic bridge and global South. He hoped that India would soon be successful in setting up a trade agreement with US President Donald Trump’s administration.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar shared his views on India’s role and situation in a special conversation with CEO Dave Pragad, CEO of Newsweek. Regarding the trade deal with the US, Jaishankar said, “We are in the midst of a very complex business talks, hope more than the middle. I will try to take it to a successful conclusion. I cannot guarantee, because there is another side in that discussion. I believe it is possible and I think we have to keep an eye on this area for the next few days.”
‘We have a very good synergy with America’
He said that there has been a friendly relationship between Trump and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Jaishankar also mentioned the importance of relations between countries within the quad of countries working as China’s retaliation in Asia and the Pacific. He said that you have four countries, in a way four corners of Indo-Pacific, which have actually decided that he has a shared interest in creating a stable or more rich Indo-Pacific and is willing to work on a practical basis.
He also said that India wants to maintain good relations with neighboring China. Jaishankar said that we have a very good synergy with America. Also, we are the biggest neighbor of China.
What did S Jaishankar say about Pakistan?
Regarding the matter of talks with Pakistan, he said, “We are now adopting a policy in which terrorists will not be spared. We do not believe that terrorists are only proxy and there is no fault of the state. Pakistan is fully involved in this matter. India will attack terrorists and protect its people. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif spoke of peace talks, but it is not possible to talk about other issues between terrorism.”
He said that terrorism cannot be made a weapon to pressurize the neighbor. A good neighbor and a terrorist cannot be together. Pakistan will have to end terrorism. Along with this, he also made it clear that we are not afraid of nuclear weapons threats. We will take necessary steps to protect our people.
‘India ready for every help in Israel-Iran struggle’
Jaishankar also talked about India’s peace proposal to reduce or eliminate Israeli-Iran struggle. He said that India has a good relationship with both Israel and Iran. India is one of the few countries in the world which can talk openly and honestly to both.
He said that this issue is very complex and cannot be solved easily, but if we can help in any way, whether it is for Israel, Iran, America or IAEA (International Nuclear Energy Agency), we are ready.
Changes in American policies big change in world system
Jaishankar further said that there is a big change in the world system due to change in the policies of America. The same coalition-centric world is now decreasing. Now the countries are carrying their interests more independently. He said that the rise of China and India, the status of Russia and giving priority to their interests, is taking the world in a more personal and independent direction.
